The Mills Fabrica reveals two new incubatees

The Mills Fabrica announced 2 incubatees at StartmeupHK last Friday - Unspun and Simple Pieces, both whom are pushing forth techstyle in new areas. 

Unspun is currently creating the future of production and retail both through their customized jeans products with on-demand weaving machine that can then be integrated into shops as a new form of retail. Simple Pieces is seeking to create a new brand focused on being authentically yours and targeting to be every woman’s simple wardrobe pieces. 

The Mills Fabrica is a 12-month incubation programme for techstyle startups, companies at the intersection of fashion, textile, and technology.

OKEx to issue utility token “OKB” 

OKEx - a world-leading digital asset exchange - are pleased to announce that they are going to issue their own utility token “OKB”, and have just launched a CNY promotion to give away 100 million OKB.

OKB is a utility token issued by the OKB foundation. It will be launched on the ERC20 protocol standard initially, and subsequently shifted to a public blockchain called OKChain in the future.

The Startup Launchpad Investment Competition opens for application, calling for hardware startups

The Startup Launchpad Investment Competition is dedicated to entrepreneurs with innovative ideas, with a special emphasis on hardware. Startup Launchpad is calling for seed or early-stage startups that are working on products or have a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to take part in the competition. The startup needs to be less than 5 years old, as of April 11th, 2018 and has a working prototype.

Summit your application by 28th February. 

DiDi Chuxing and Softbank team up to expand to Japan

The Chinese ride-hailing service, Didi Chuxing, is going to be rolling into Japan later this year in a partnership backed by Japanese investor SoftBank.

The two companies said they will be trialling ride-hailing services in the country later this year. It will be launched in Osaka, Kyoto, Fukuoka and Tokyo at first. Didi says it will expand to other locations within this year.

HKUST-Sino One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition 2018 opens for application

HKUST-Sino One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition 2018, which takes place in June 2018, is now open for applications. The Competition aims to provide a platform for HKUST's community members an integrative learning experience to create and evaluate new business and to prepare students to start their future career in entrepreneurship. 

The Competition is open to public, though every team must have at least one HKUST member (faculty / student / alumni / staff) in order to meet the Eligibility Requirement. A team forming platform is set up to help non-HKUST participants to build connection with HKUST members.

The Competition will start with Exhibition and Elevator Pitch on Apr 17, 2018 (Tuesday) followed by a Business Plan Evaluation held on June 7, 2018 (Thursday).  Apply for the competition before March 22.
