Artificial Intelligence, machine learning and big data, the buzzwords that we keep hearing, but often misused, thrown around out of context for a plethora of applications on a daily basis. In fact, these technologies have been deployed in various and universal ways, from health, entertainment, customer service, recognition and way beyond. This fireside chat seeks to sift through the real groundbreaking applications in use and in development today and where in the world we are seeing these use cases and what we can expect from them in the coming years.

About Speakers:
Gerardo Salandra (Jerry)
CEO and founder of Rocketbots (www.rocketbots.io), one of the leading AI-powered chat automation platforms in Asia. With previous experience in IBM, Google, and Runtastic, he has accumulated deep expertise in artificial intelligence, growth hacking, and machine learning. As former Head of Growth at NDN Group, one of the largest technology groups in the ASEAN region, he leads the automation initiatives for several fortune 500 companies. Gerardo is also the Chairman of the Artificial Intelligence Society of Hong Kong and a renowned TEDx speaker in the field of Artificial Intelligence and a professional corporate trainer.
Dr. Tsougenis Efstratios
Dr. Tsougenis Efstratios is the Director of Imsight Medical. With his 10 years experience in the field of Image Processing, Computer Vision and Machine Learning (Ph.D. (DUTH) & Post-Doc (HKUST)) and more than half of them in A.I. Hong Kong Market, Efstratios, a full-stack A.I. Manager, Engineer and Entrepreneur, currently serves as Hong Kong Technical & Business Director for Deep Learning Medical Imaging Diagnostics company, Imsight Medical. In the past, he served as Team leader & A.I. Consultant for multiple A.I. teams while collaborated and consulted multiple companies in the A.I. HK Market in the fields of Healthcare, Smart City, Manufacture, Weather Analytics, and Sports Analytics. He is also the founder of Orasis A.I., a consultancy company focusing in Computer Vision and Machine Learning, and a guest lecturer for multiple institutes in Hong Kong.
Timothy Leung
Timothy has accumulated over 20 years of experience in the Information and Internet field. He worked in esteemed companies such as Alibaba, Apple, and PCCW. He is now the Executive Director of the HKAI LAB, which is a not-for-profit initiative fully funded by the Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund and SenseTime focused on advancing the frontiers of AI with cutting-edge technologies and expertise, and empowering startups to commercialize their new inventions.
Timothy is strong at business strategic planning and implementation. He had managed a direct sales team and channel partners for technology products and internet services, he also had many successes in government and private sector partnership development and management.
Leo Chiu
Leo, Founding Engineer of MyFitnessPal, recruited as one of the first five engineers to build and scale the infrastructure for MyFitnessPal. The last four big data/AI startups where Leo served as core contributor all led to successful IPO or M&A (combined valuation of $1B+). Leo is now mentoring local college graduates and young adults in Hong Kong and China about innovation-driven entrepreneurship.
Lavine Hemlani
Lavine is the CEO of Xccelerate. He is passionate about eliminating the financial barrier between education and opportunity for motivated learners to unleash their potential. Prior to Xccelerate, Lavine co-founded FLYR and worked with deep learning start-up Thread Genius. Lavine began his career in investment banking in NYC at Lazard M&A and held roles at the following funds: Atlas, Marwar Capital and Union Park Capital.
