The Euler Hermes Data Lab
Our ambition is to settle a Data-Driven company organization by creating Regional Data Labs to run innovative, Big Data, Machine Learning initiatives and deliver disruptive applications.
Focus will be on how to provide quantitative, data-driven insights with actionable results that will underline strategic decision across all business areas.
Main tasks
The principal missions of the Senior Data Scientist will be to:
#1 – Lead Regional data experiments (data, models, partners)
- Research, develop, implement, measure and take ownership of predictive models. Independently perform statistical analyses and "deep dives" into the data. Present and discuss solutions as an expert with business partners.
- Lead experimental design, statistical modelling and build a Regional ecosystem by identifying new data sets or testing new promising approaches.
- Serve as analytical project lead to spearhead innovative, quantitative and advanced analytical solutions to complex business problems by utilizing a diverse set of traditional and modern predictive modelling, pattern recognition and machine learning approaches.
#2 – Implement, produce and monitor models
- Implement, in coordination with the Group Data Lab, new machine learning applications embedded into operational processes while defining the best solution accordingly to Regional specificities and requirements.
- Develop specific tools, processes and reporting or data visualizations to deliver a high level of service of the solution implemented and measure their impacts on business
#3 – Be the Group Data Lab referent
- Raise subjects for decision
- Animate a portfolio of initiatives which underlie the Regional strategy, share progress on the running projects
- Generate reports, annotated code, and other projects artifacts to document, archive, and communicate work and outcomes
- Share learnings and discuss findings with team members, other Regional Data Labs and the Group Data Lab.
- Set up and manage a team of data scientists, guide and mentor junior team members in data science best practices.
- Ensure that the best practices and tools defined by the Group Data Lab are well shared and applied
The role is based in Hong Kong.
Knowledge/Experience required:
- Successful track record in implementing Python or R machine learning algorithms, with 3 to 5 years of experience (required)
- Demonstrated skills at data cleansing, data quality assessment, and using analytics for data assessment
- Demonstrated skills in the use of applied analytics, descriptive statistics, and predictive analytics on large datasets embedded into operational processes
- Ability to query databases and perform statistical analysis - knowledge of common data sources and query languages (esp. SQL, Hive, Pig)
- Stakeholder management
- Strong entrepreneurial spirit
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with fluent spoken and written English a must
